On January 8, the ASEAN Media Reporting Trip to China was launched in Beijing. Co-organized by CNTA and China Radio International (CRI), it invites reporters from nine ASEAN countries, namely, Thailand, Vietnam, Cambodia, Malaysia, Singapore, Myanmar, Laos, the Philippines, and Indonesia. They will spend the following week in Heilongjiang, Shanghai, and Hangzhou to cover local tourism infrastructure and latest developments.

At the morning briefing, senior officials from CNTA Department of Tourism Promotion and International Liaison introduced the current situation of Chinese tourism industry, China’s tourism exchange and cooperation with ASEAN countries, the 2017 China-ASEAN Tourism Cooperation Year program, and answered questions regarding the increase in flights, streamlined visa procedures, tourism infrastructure, the progress in the Toilet Revolution, and tourist destination marketing and promotion plans, etc.

With geographical proximity and cultural bonds, China and ASEAN boast a solid, deep foundation for tourism cooperation. In 2016, the two-way visits between them exceeded 30 million, and the growth was fueled by the 2017 China-ASEAN Tourism Cooperation Year program. As part of CNTA’s vigorous efforts to expand the inbound tourism market, the ASEAN Media Reporting Trip to China is expected to continue the marketing effect of the tourism year program and boost China-ASEAN tourism exchange and cooperation.

The media group consists of over 30 reporters representing ASEAN media outlets such as TVK (Cambodia), Bernama (Malaysia), ABS-CBN (the Philippines), and VNA (Vietnam) as well as CRI.
