113 million travel on October 1st
Government stats suggest tourism revenues hit 96.5 billion yuan during the day, up 10.5 percent compared to the same period last year, according to the China National Tourism Administration.
113,000 people from China also travelled overseas on October 1st. Popular travel destinations include Russia, Australia and the United States.
Overseas travel so far is up 32% compared with last year.
This year has also seen a dramatic rise in the number of people choosing to take homestay vacations. Stats from the National Tourism Administration show homestay bookings in the rural areas of China have increased by 126%.
The national railway system also saw 15 million passengers on October 1st.
