Chinese Delegation at ITB Berlin 2017
The ITB Berlin 2017 unveiled at 10am, March 8, local time, to which CNTA organized a 130-plus delegation consisting of tourism administrations, tourism companies and airline companies from 21 provinces, regions and municipalities including Beijing, Inner Mongolia, Zhejiang, Shandong, Henan, Hunan, Xinjiang, and Guangdong.
The Chinese booth covered 407 square meters, featured the theme of "The 2017 Silk Road Tourism Year" and launched the slogan "China: Beyond Your Imagination." To attract tourism companies, CNTA rolled out a preferential policy for inbound tourism company-exhibitors, improving the delegation structure – nearly 70% of the delegates came from tourism companies. A total of 39 desks were set up inside the Chinese booth and business promotion and public awareness activities were organized to promote branded tourism resources such as the Silk Road, Tea Road, Yellow River, Yangtze River, water towns in south of the lower reaches of Yangtze River, and tourist attractions in the south of the Five Ridges, etc.
On the day of the opening ceremony, the Chinese delegation staged a marketing event to promote boutique travel routes along the Silk Road, attracting a 150-plus audience including tour operators, airline companies and journalists from Germany and other major tourist sources. The event was covered by local outlets of Xinhua News Agency, People's Daily, and Economic Daily as well as Berliner Zeitung, Berliner Morgenpost, FVW and Travel One.
Meanwhile, to maximize the publicity effect, CNTA put up ads at the airport and the main entrance to the venue and on the journal of ITB Berlin and FVW. What's more, Plus, a local radio station, live-broadcast the event at the Chinese booth for five consecutive days, which was expected to reach over 1.5 million audiences. Besides, cultural and artistic performances, tea ceremonies and quiz games will be staged in days to come to promote Chinese tourism and culture to local residents and business insiders from around the world.
The ITB Berlin is recognized by business insiders as the biggest and top international tourism gala. With 26 exhibition halls and a total area of 160,000 square meters, the ITB Berlin 2016 attracted 11,320 exhibitors from 187 countries and regions as well as nearly 200,000 visitors.
