Du Jiang Meets with Myanmar's Minister of of Hotels and Tourism Ohn Maung
On February 28, CNTA vice chairman Du Jiang held a meeting with Myanmar's Minister of Hotels and Tourism Ohn Maung in Naypyidaw. Both sides exchanged views on how to deepen tourism cooperation and expand two-way personnel exchange.
To begin with, Du extended sincere gratitude toward Mr. Ohn Maung on behalf of CNTA and its chairman Li Jinzao. He noted that the Chinese government has always attached high importance to cooperating with Myanmar in tourism. “China-Myanmar Tourism Forum is a major event under the China-ASEAN Tourism Cooperation Year program and a milestone in the history of China-Myanmar tourism exchange. China would like to consolidate the cooperation basis with ASEAN countries, enrich cooperation contents, and expand cooperation channels to produce more substantial benefits.” He looked forward to more cross-border tourism cooperation with Myanmar, with ASEAN countries and believed that China-Myanmar tourism cooperation would continue to progress with the concerted efforts of all parties concerned.
Ohn Maung welcomed the Chinese delegation and expressed admiration for the rapid tourism development in China in recent years. He added, China-Myanmar Tourism Forum is a key step towards stronger bilateral cooperation and his government would work closely with China and appreciate the assistance and support from China in channeling tourists, funds to his country and providing personnel training, etc.
Also present at the meeting were vice governor of Yunnan Chen Shun, Chinese ambassador to Myanmar Hong Liang, and senior officials of CNTA’s Department of Tourism Promotion and International Liaison.
